2019: Enugu east endorses Gov Ugwuanyi

People of Nkanuland, who now call themselves, Nkanu nation weekend, endorsed Gov. Ifeanyi
Ugwuanyi for a second term in office, come 2019.
The people of Nkanu nation known politically as Enugu East Senatorial Zone, who poured out in their
numbers last Saturday in what could be described as a mother of all endorsements because of the
mammoth crowd that poured out for the endorsement rally at the headquarters of Nkanu West Local
Government Area, Agbani, said they were pleased with Gov. Ugwuanyi's style of leadership.
Prof. Barth Nnaji, former Minister of Power, who moved the motion for the adoption of Ugwuanyi as
their sole governorship candidate for the 2019 gubernatorial poll, said that Ugwuanyi had done well in
building roads for his people, who could now transport their farm produce to the urban areas.
"I am here on behalf of the people to move that Ugwuanyi be adopted for the good works he has been
doing. I hereby move that we adopt Ugwuanyi for a second term in office," he said.
Seconding the motion for adoption, former military governor of Abia State, Col. Anthony Obi, said that
he was seconding the motion because Ugwuanyi had done well. "The mammoth crowd here, is an
endorsement. It means you are doing well," he said.
To consummate the endorsement, former minister of Information, Frank Nweke Jnr, told his people to
raise their hands for or against the adoption and there was a mammoth, 'aye.'
Nweke said that they even signed the endorsement to prove that they were not coerced to endorse the
Speaking before the endorsement, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Edward Ubosi,
who spoke on behalf of his colleagues from the senatorial zone in the House, said that Ugwuanyi's works
were enormous because he started his developmental works in Enugu East with the first road he built at
Abakpa Nike.
Ubosi pointed out that the people of his zone benefitted immensely from Ugwuanyi's administration in
terms of appointments and political positions, citing himself as Speaker, SSG, PDP state chairman, vice
chancellor of ESUT as well as many appointed as commissioners and advisers.
Senator Gil Nnaji, Senate Committee chairman on Communication, speaking for the NASS members
from the zone, said that Ugwuanyi administration brought security of lives and property in the state
especially the state capital, Enugu.
Nnaji praised the many road network built at the various local governments in the zone such as the
Ihuokpara-Aninri Numeh; Mburubu-Ehamufu roads among others.
"Everybody here, including the youth, have all come out to endorse you to continue with your good
works," Nnaji said.
