Abaribe’s triumphant entry to Abia after DSS detention

The saying a prophet is without honour at home was the direct opposite last Friday as Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe who was released after four days in detention in the cell of Department of State Security landed at Sam Mbakwe Airport amidst mammoth crowd that thronged to welcome him back home.
Perhaps the story of heroic welcome given to the embattled Senator representing Abia South on the said day could better imagined than described .it was like that of biblical entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem.O n that day,Abians stood still for their illustrious Son as all roads leads to the Enyimba city, to welcome Abaribe back home.
To say the least, the crowd that came to Mbakwe Airport, Owerri on Friday, was unprecedented in the history of the airport as observers said.
Nobody was left out as men, women and youths trouped out in large numbers, beautifully adorned in uniforms and waiting patiently for the mouth piece and defender of the nation’s democracy, Senator Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe. The Airspace flight from Abuja to Owerri airport that conveyed Senator Abaribe and Hon. Engr. Solomon Adaelu in company of other law makers and friends of Olu Ndi Igbo as he (Abaribe) is fondly called touched down around 11.55 a.m, and the arrival of the two great law makers elicited joy, dancing and singing within the Airport premises.
Addressing newsmen at the VIP wing of the Sam Mbakwe airport, the Senator Abaribe said until this moment, the DSS has never come out clearly as to why he was arrested, they only alleged that he was sponsoring IPOB and had to search his house for any incriminating evidence which they couldn’t find. How else to make a politician popular?
Senator Abaribe is striving hard to convince his Abia South people on his aspiration to go back to the Senate for a record of four tenures of straight 16years if he succeeds in his current bid. And with their Ukwa brothers fighting tooth and nail to ensure equity reigns supreme by allowing them the opportunity this time around, it becomes clearer why the detention of Senator Abaribe by DSS rightly or wrongly has elevated his rising political profile.
Thus, after leaving airport back home, it was one reception after another in different venues from Owerri to Abia, from Umuikea junction where his supporters which included men, women, children and the youths rolled out the drums along the express way and had a twenty one gun salute to herald the arrival of the Egwurugwu of Abia South, at Aba town hall. Cultural dances and so many other forms of entertainment were lined up in celebration of the home coming of their hero. Hon. Engineer Solomon Adaelu, member representing Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbor federal constituency who accompanied Senator Abaribe from Abuja also received tremendous ovation and cheering by the crowd who gathered in celebration of the release of the Senator from detention.
He eulogized the qualities of Senator Abaribe and described him as the lone voice of the Igbos, while calling on the people to support Senator Abaribe as the fight ahead requires strong men like Abaribe. Other speakers at the event include the Deputy Speaker Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe, Hon. Nkem Abonta and a host other dignitaries that graced the occasion. At the CS park the crowd waiting to receive Senator Abaribe was so enormous that it was difficult to control by the security agencies as everyone was struggling to catch a glimpse of the peoples senator, the singing and dancing also continued but this time in an elaborate mood, while dignitaries made speeches in praise of senator Abaribe, before rounding off the events of the day at Aba sports club.
In his address at the venue of the reception, Senator Abaribe said the agenda is to shut him up, but how can I shut up when Nigerians are being killed daily, how can I shut up when there is great injustice in the land, how can I shut up when the youths don’t have jobs, how can I shut up when the buoyant economy that was handed over to the APC government has totally collapsed.
Senator Abaribe advised Nigerians to get their PVC’s as that is the only way we can boot out this nightmare called APC government in Nigeria.
From the mood of thousands of Abians that came out to welcome Senator Abaribe, Abians and indeed Ndi Igbo are generally happy to see their Senator back home after a four days detention at the DSS headquarters Abuja.
But the question that is begging for answer is this: will the people of Ukwa axis of Abia South who are angling to be allowed to take a shot at the Senate come 2019 granted that Senator Abaribe is enjoying his consecutive three terms in the red chambers of the Senate, accept the former governor go again for the fourth time running?
Reacting to this poser, the aspirant to Abia South Senatorial ticket and former deputy Speaker, Abia House of Assembly, Hon Emeka Stanley condemned the detention of Abaribe noting that granted that he is a vocal voice defending his South East people should not be enough reason to punish him.
Hon Emeka Stanley stressed though that Abaribe has done pretty well in the red chambers of the Senate that I’d not enough parameter to re-election the three terms Senator in 2019.
He maintained that after 12years in the National Assembly, he should give others opportunity and take position of a consultant, father of all instead of aspiring for the fourth tenure.
Immediate past Chairman of Abia state oil producing area development commission,(ASOPADEC) disagree with the notion that the tenure of law makers are “tenure less” noting that this cannot be applicable to Nigeria with its nascent democracy therefore should not be compared with American democracy and others that have been in existence for over 200 years.
To this end, he pleaded with Senator Abaribe to allow their Ukwa brothers produce the next Senate from the zone adding that if the former Senate President, Senator Adolf Wants from Ukwa East had cling onto the position, Abaribe and indeed his Ngwa people would not have been in the saddle by now.
The former Federal law maker further posited that he is aspiring for the position to contribute his own quota, for ensure equity and social justice that Ngwa has marginalised their Ukwa brothers in sharing of political offices and should concede 2019 slot for them.
