Dickson has placed Bayelsa on path of irreversible development – CPS

Chief Press Secretary to Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, Francis Ottah Agbo, yesterday said that his regime has placed the state on the path of peace, prosperity and irreversible development.

Agbo who disclosed this in Yenagoa when the University of Maiduguri Alumni Association, State chapter paid him a courtesy visit at the government house Yenagoa, added that the governor’s legacy and achievements in all sectors, the enthronement of transparent regime and freedom for the opposition to ventilate alternative views as well as his deep views on national issues have marked him out as the most celebrated Governor in the country.

He thanked governor Dickson for giving him opportunity to serve the state, describing him as a detribalized Nigerian.

The governor’s spokesman who described his appointment as unusual in Bayelsa State, expressed delight in formally meeting members of the association, who he noted have kept the flag of the institution flying high.

He described UNIMAID as a great institution and melting point for all ethnic nationalities, adding that just like UNIMAID, Governor Dickson’s restoration government is a conglomeration of a mini Nigeria.

According to him, projects like the Bayelsa International Airport, which is scheduled for inauguration next month, is to take the state to the world as well as bring the world to the State, thereby boosting the economic fortunes of the only homogenous Ijaw state.

He explained that when the airport is completed and put to use, it will enable Bayelsa to play a more active role in the Gulf of Guinea, create jobs, boost tourism and add to the political economy of the state.

According to him “Governor Dickson is among few Nigerians who believe very clearly that a Nigerian is a Nigerian irrespective of tribe or state of origin and that was the spirit at the University of Maiduguri before Boko Haram ravaged Borno State.

Every human being is your brother or sister; once you strike the right cord with the person you can tolerate and work with the person. He/she does not necessarily have to be your kinsman or relative before you accept him to work with you. ”

“The Governor has shown me love, the people of this state have shown me love and I don’t take it lightly. Once somebody is good to you, try and reciprocate that same gesture without minding if that person is from the same ethnic stock as you”

“You are here in Bayelsa state, you must have seen the good works of the governor, who is confronting a difficult terrain and has taken the state from the back waters . In the next one month, you have an airport in this state with flights coming and going
out of Bayelsa. Places that were hitherto difficult to construct bridges, roads have been connected, communities that never saw vehicles like Aleibiri now see the influx of vehicles, these are the mark and antecedents of the governor”

Chairman of the state chapter of University of Maiduguri Alumni Association, Dr. Ikuli Ibebieru, who said the association has been in existence in the state for about seven years, explained that, the visit was to intimate the the governor’s spokesman of the existence of the body and its activities.
