Former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. After a number of months of speculations and suspense, Ikedi Ohakim, dumped APGA and decamp to APC.
Before his final declaration to APC, he had a few few hours to his defection, denied his intention for defection and calls it rumor.
At a ceremony on Tuesday in his hometown, Burma, Okohia, Isiala Mbano LG, Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim was formally registered as a full member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Also at the ceremony were members of the APC state working committee, led by the the chairman, Marcon Nlemigbo. Other important personalities were Governor Hope Uzodinma, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmos Iwu; Chief of Staff to the governor, Nnamdi Anyaehie and Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Paul Ibezim.
Ohakim declared his membership of APC, while receiving the APC flag from the State Chairman, Marcellenus Nlemigbo, at his hometown, Okohia in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, on Tuesday.
While welcoming Ikedi Ohakim to the party, Governor Uzodimma mentioned the APC is delighted to have him in their party, mentioning that he has little doubt in his mind that his coming would add value to efforts made by his administration to convey growth to the state and enhance the standard of lives of the people.
It was additionally gathered that the defection of Ikedi Ohakim happened at Okohia.
The former governor mentioned he was moved by the truth that the administration of Governor Uzodimma was pursuing people oriented insurance policies and programmes.
