Educational Background

Durotoye is the owner and founder of The House of Tara, the first of its kind and adjudged the most vibrant and leading beauty brands in Nigeria and Africa at large.

Over the years, they have made  remarkable achievements in the areas of specialization in providing beauty education, makeup training through seminars, community events, and panel-led discussions and providing employments for over 500,000 Nigerian youths who would have been out of jobs.

Tara Durotoye has been in this business since 1998 at her young age of 20, from her living room, while in the University.

Tara added that her mother was her major influence in achieving this laudable goal and praised her for making her to become a beauty merchant.

Tara recalled her days in the University, when her friends used to come around, asking for her help with their makeup or seeking makeup tips and advice.

The business grew to greater recognition and sooner than later, she became widely recognized on Campus, doing makeup for people which eventually gave birth to what we have as House of Tara.

According to Tara, “It made us look extra special”.

In the coming years, her brand experienced phenomenal growth, but not without challenges as they had difficulty convincing people who were not married to do makeup or have it done for their older sisters or relatives.

Culture, they say is dynamic. Over the years, people got interested in a whole different genre that hitherto was not in existence.

Determined to succeed, Tara Durotoye came up with product line, a development that received wide acceptance and recognition as indigenous brand owned by a Nigerian.

Inspite of the initial financial constrain, House of Tara soon attained the break which are today at a mature stage.

The House has since over two decades of existence has over 20 stores across the country with each store being managed by an administrator”.

The House of Tara also puts the satisfaction of clients first while keeping up with the dynamism and trends of the beauty industry. Again, she has stayed true to her words, working to expand the niche and reach of House of Tara over time.
